A Guide to our church services
Said Eucharist
A said service of Holy Communion lasting 30minutes, held on Sunday and Thursday – see above for details. Using Common Worship liturgy, with a short, thought-provoking sermon, this service is followed by coffee, chat and biscuits.
Sung Eucharist
Hymns, and a sung Eucharist setting, led by our choir and organist add an extra dimension to this celebration of Holy Communion each Sunday at 9.45am. Following the liturgy in Common Worship, with a thought-provoking and enjoyable sermon, this service is held on alternate Sundays at St Matthias and The Church of the Ascension. Sung Eucharist lasts approximately 70mins and is usually followed by coffee, chat and biscuits.
Contemporary Service
Uplifting and informal, the 11.15am Contemporary Service is held each week at St Peter’s. It’s ideal for families and those wanting to explore the Christian faith. Led by an enthusiastic amateur band, with worship songs, prayers and exploration of scripture in the context of our lives and communities, the 11.15 challenges us to go the extra mile.
A new, and growing congregation, the 11.15am has members both in the church building and online through weekly Facebook livestream. Those in church enjoy the now famous coffee or tea and homemade cakes after the 45-minute service.
Taize Worship
A relaxed service held at 5pm on the third Sunday of the month at The Ascension. A selection of readings and meditations separated by Taize chants. The congregation is welcome to join in the chants or just experience the special peace of the service.
