Youth Choirs

At Malvern Link Youth Choir we use ‘do re mi’ to teach accurate singing of intervals in a natural and developmental way. The approach uses whole body actions to reinforce learning, and the children learn to recognise intervals aurally, so that they can record them onto a music stave, or to read them from a music score and sing them with confidence.

We do lots of work on rhythm and beat too, improving coordination as well as musical understanding.

The sessions are filled with musical games and great songs, so it’s a great way to make friends.

The two choir age groups ensure that children feel more secure and develop confidence.

The children have the opportunity to gain certificates through NYCOS as well as Royal School of Church Music awards, for which they receive a medal at each stage.

Musical Me is available for young children to build a firm foundation for musicality and to develop a life long love of song, rhythm and movement.

Malvern Link Young Singers (reception to key stage one) is held at St Matthias on Tuesdays during term time 3:30 – 4:30 in the Church.

Malvern Link Youth Choir (key stage two onwards) is held in the Link Room and Church at Saint Matthias on Tuesdays during term time 5:15 – 6:30. Children are invited to sing at a Church service once a month.

Musical Me is held at the Ascension on Saturday mornings 11-11:45. Parents must attend please and booking is necessary.

Jasper W, 10, saidIt’s the best choir in the world and Es is the best choir leader. We always have fun and I know what the notes mean”.

Angela B, a choir Mum, said ‘I think the children all feel secure at choir. They are all accepted and listened to. My son loves it’.
